Minneapolis Lower Level Remodeling
The lower level family room of this south Minneapolis home had been “finished” in the 1970’s - complete with suspended acoustical ceiling, gaudy gold wallpaper and brick wainscot. The owners were eager to remodel this space into a media room where they could relax and enjoy their new big screen television.

Construction in the family room began with gutting the room to the studs. The ceiling was framed below the mechanical pipes. To add architectural interest in this family room renovation, small racetrack soffits were built around the ceiling in the family room. The custom-designed cabinetry of African mahogany and the red cork floor add character to the room. Numerous recessed lights and wall sconces provide illumination and ambience.
