The owners of this Lake Minnetonka home wanted a modern kitchen with improved functionality and an elegant, Old World style. Moving the cooktop to the corner of the kitchen creates functional counter space between the cooktop and refrigerator. To facilitate entertaining, the kitchen is equipped with two Sub-Zero refrigerators, a separate undercounter icemaker and a wine cooler. The cherry cabinetry is enhanced with a stained and glazed, distressed finish to give it the appearance of old wood. Wherever possible, custom wood panels matching the cabinetry finish camouflage the appliances. Chestnut Brown granite countertops and full-height backsplashes magnify the richness of the cherry cabinetry and play against the lighter Australian Brushbox wood floors. The combination of recessed lights, undercabinet lighting and decorative light fixtures with European style provide ambiance for any occasion in this remodeled kitchen.
