Edina Foyer Renovation
As part of a main floor renovation, the owners of this traditional two-story home constructed in the 1940’s wanted to add light and character to the interior of their home. Although the exterior had wonderful architectural details such as fon-du-lac stone, wooden shakes, and dormers, the interior was rather dark and non-descript.

In the foyer, the dark wood handrail was replaced with one with decorative iron spindles, painted posts and custom artichoke finials. A custom Honduran mahogany door graces the front entry. Traditional plasterboard with a hand-trowled plaster finish was installed on all walls and ceilings. Large crown mouldings, custom casings and oak flooring provide design continuity throughout the first floor. The new lighting and colors brighten the interior while the addition of new architectural details and finishes add character and provide design continuity throughout the home.
